We’ve been making this Creamy Caesar Salad Dressing in our house for years. It’s made with simple pantry ingredients and only takes a few minutes to make. The taste is richer and more flavourful than any Caesar dressing we’ve bought.

We love pairing this Creamy Caesar Dressing with homemade bagel croutons in a fresh Ceasar salad. Often we’ll serve Caesar salad with garlic bread, spaghetti, and the kids’ favourite easy homemade pasta sauce or our amazing homemade lasagna. I promise you, the smell in your home while making this meal is amazing!

What is in Creamy Caesar Salad Dressing?

For this simple recipe, you will need the following ingredients:

  • garlic – finely chopped or grated to add rich flavour to the dressing
  • sea salt – I always use pink Himalayan sea salt for its health benefits
  • olive oil or avocado oil – both oils are healthy oils that add flavour and richness to the dressing
  • Dijon mustard – acts as a binder to help emulsify the dressing
  • lemon juice – lends a tart acidity to the dressing
  • parmesan cheese – for creaminess, saltiness, and texture
  • mayonnaise – use in place of egg yolk for a creamy dressing
  • anchovy paste (optional) – adds tons of flavour, but use sparingly
  • Worcestershire sauce – this adds a briny saltiness to the dressing
  • salt and pepper

Does Caesar salad dressing need to have anchovy in it?

If you’re looking for the authentic creamy caesar salad dressing flavour, anchovy is key. It adds a slight salty flavour that adds a slight kick to the otherwise simple dressing. However, you only need a little bit to get the flavour you’re looking for!

If you aren’t a fan of anchovy, you can opt to omit it completely and just use the Worcestershire sauce. You’ll end up with a milder caesar dressing, but just as yummy!

Is there egg yolk in Caesar salad dressing?

Lots of Caesar dressing recipes use an egg yolk to create its signature creamy texture. However, given that some people are nervous about consuming raw egg, we’ve made this recipe using mayonnaise instead. It still has a rich, creamy texture, but is worry-free!

How to make Creamy Caesar Salad Dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together garlic, dijon mustard, anchovy paste, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese.
