I love having a simple, effective stain remover that also gets rid of bad odours. This Easy Stain & Odour Remover is only 2 ingredients and works like a charm on all sorts of stains and smells! Quick to make and easy on the wallet, once you use it, you won’t go back to those expensive, chemical-laden stain-removing products.

In the past, I purchased pricey stain removers to treat all the kid/pet/parenting related stains in our home.

Not anymore!

After doing a bit of research and lots of trial and error, I realized that making my own stain and odour remover is so easy! And, like so many of my other homemade household products, it is just a couple of ingredients. Well, it’s actually only one ingredient, and some water! Quick and easy to whip up whenever you need some. And it is very, very effective on all kinds of stains and especially odours. In fact, it is the only stain remover we now use in our home!

I have used this Easy Stain and Odour Remover on everything from tomato sauce spills to pet accidents on our carpet (I know, so gross!). It not only lifts the stain right away, it also removes any lingering odours.

I always keep a bottle of this spray with our cleaning products, and also one in our laundry room. That way I have one bottle to help treat stains, and one to quickly spray on a spill on the carpet, or wherever I need to spray something quickly.

My hint: try to spray the area as soon as you notice a potential stain. If it is my daughter’s shirt, for example, I will take it off of her and give the stain a spray, and throw it in the laundry basket. By the time I do the laundry, the stain comes out no problem!

How can I use this Easy Stain & Odour Remover?

Carpets : Spray Stain & Odour Remover directly onto stain to help lift it. Pat gently with a rag, then spray again and leave on to remove odours

Mattresses: If a child wets the bed and (gasp!) gets the mattress a bit wet, remove all bedding and spray directly onto mattress. Allow to air dry.

Clothing: Spray directly onto clothing. Launder as usual.

Marker: If marker gets on fabric, spray with Stain & Odour Remover as soon as possible. Pat with a rag to help catch drips (you will see the marker come right out in the remover spray!).

Fridge cleaner: To clean and deodorize your fridge, simply spray the cleaner in the fridge. Allow to sit a few minutes, and wipe down.

Dirty sponges: Soaking a dish sponge in this Easy Stain & Odour Remover will disinfect the sponge. After soaking, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely before using (a sponge that is never dried out has higher amounts of bacteria growing in it).

How to make Easy Stain & Odour Remover That Works!

bottle of hydrogen peroxide and clear spray bottle

It is so easy!!

  1. Mix 3 parts Hydrogen Peroxide with 1 part water (For example, 3/4 cup hydrogen peroxide and 1/4 cup water…I just eyeball it).

2. Pour into a spray bottle and shake.

There you have it, it’s that simple! There is no need to have a plethora of products on your shelf. You can save time and money by getting back to basics and using simple ingredients around the home to get the job done! One jug of hydrogen peroxide and some water, and you are set to tackle all kinds of stains and odours 🙂
